Alternate title: Why I don’t mind false alarms!
I’ve been to two false alarms in the last few months. In both cases, when it was the “real thing”, the baby made an appearance so quickly that I missed one birth and very nearly could have missed the second.
This is the moon that started it all:
When I got to the house, Mom was concentrating hard through each contraction but in between contractions she was in a fantastic mood.
Dad & the Doula helped Mom how and when she needed it. For the most part, though, Mom just took each contraction as they came and let her body do its work.
Pretty quickly, Mom had a major contraction that lasted a super long time and was very intense. She knew things would culminate pretty quickly so she climbed into the birth tub.
Sure enough, just over 2 hours after we arrived, baby Evelyn swam her way into the world while her older brother and sister slept peaceful upstairs! Welcome to the world, precious girl!
I adore this baby girl! She was so calm and laid back. She really just wanted to check out everything around her for awhile before snuggling into her Mama.
Hello, world! Look at those baby rolls!!!!
Eventually Dad got his turn too. I simply adore how tiny a new baby looks in the arms of her father!
Isn’t this baby scale just beautiful? I adore it.
Verdict? 7lb 4 oz!
When all the excitement died down, baby Evelyn snuggled in with her Mama all cozy and happy. All was right with the world!
Eventually we made our way to the bathtub for the wonderfully healing herbal bath. Evelyn was a big BIG fan!
This birth was so special. It was so gentle, so lovely and peaceful. Mom was an amazing warrior – smiling in between contractions, letting go of each contraction fully and trusting in her body completely. She was so in touch with her body’s every message. It was a gift to watch a woman bring forth life in this way. Thank you to the whole family for allowing me to be present for your miracle!
